The Hineni Method
“Hineni” - Here I am - is the first word Moses utters at the Burning Bush.
He’s at the start of a daunting journey: stepping into his Jewish identity, being called into a leadership role for the first time.
Although he’ll ultimately become the liberator of an entire people, Moses isn't all-in at first. He hesitates. “I’m not a person of words,” he says.
Many of our students arrive at the beginning of their B-Mitzvah journeys feeling the same way.
They’re there, physically - but inside, they’re quietly wondering: Am I ready? Will I be able to do this? Am I a “Hebrew" person?
The Hineni Method was created to answer those questions with confidence, structure, and joy.
Our Approach
Hineni is a structured, sequential, multisensory B-mitzvah prep curriculum rooted in the principles of Orton-Gillingham, the gold standard for teaching students with dyslexia. We've adapted best practices for teaching dyslexic students to read in English and tailored them to the unique features of Hebrew.
First and foremost we teach phonics. Letters and sounds are introduced in a carefully designed sequence based on visual, auditory, and articulatory distinctiveness.
Instruction is explicit, cumulative, and always multisensory. Lessons combine visual, auditory, and kinesthetic elements to engage multiple neural pathways and build lasting mastery.
The bedrock strategy of our program is syllable division, which allows readers of all levels to decode long, multisyllabic Hebrew words with confidence. Mnemonics, movement, color-coding, and imagery are woven throughout to boost both retention, and fun!
Pacing is individualized for each learner’s needs, ensuring understanding and success at every step.
